Earlier in 2020, we review the Cosmo Prime Air Purifier, we now look to review their professional model, the Cosmo Pro Air Purifier that comes with a 5-in-1 HEPA filter.

Priced at S$499 against the Cosmo Prime S$339, what extra features justify the heftier price tag and the bulkier body of the Cosm Pro?

For a start, the main highlight would be the 5-in-1 HEPA filter versus the 3-in-1 HEPA filter fitted in the Cosmo Prime. It also comes with an AI-powered PM2.5 Sensor, with a filtering power that is claimed by Cosmo to be second to none.

Claimed to be Cosmo’s highest performing filtration system yet, the Cosmo Pro is said to be proven to filter air pollutants like pollen, dust, bacteria, tobacco smoke and even Covid-19.

The latter came in especially helpful when I was down with Covid and on self-quarantine at home. I confined myself mostly to a few areas in my home, but when I recovered and tested Covid negative, I used the Cosmo Pro as an extra layer of safety to clean the air in these areas before I invited guests to my home again.

The five layers of filtering include:

The Pre-filter is designed to sieve out the largest particles first including hair, dust, lint and fur. Designed using Cosmo’s patented unique filter fabric to prevents wear and tear, it is built for a much stronger filtration efficiency for an extended period of time.

This Cosmo Anti-Bac Shield filter specifically suppresses growth of bacteria by using anti-bacterial technology to provide the most effective filtration, effectively reducing infections and allergic reactions.

Specifically engineered to remove micron particles and block bacteria, pollen, pet dander, dust mites, and finer particles. The HEPA filter is able to capture almost any size of air pollutant.  This is most important for those with a sensitive nose like me. I am allergy to dust mites and just a bit of it will send me sneezing the whole day.

These air filters are made from small pieces of charcoal – generally in a granular or powdered block form – which are extremely porous.

The pores in these carbon blocks can absorb a very large number of contaminants. Cosmo’s specially engineered activated carbon layer neutralises odours in the air, and absorbs formaldehyde that’s commonly found in homes – in gas stoves, wood products, even your walls and floor.

This feature uses light energy to turn all kinds of bad air pollutants into harmless substances. Germs, viruses and bacteria are broken down by the electrostatic and oxidisation effects of the electrons generated from the Photocatalyst Filter, to keep the environment safe and healthy.

Additionally, the Cosmo Pro comes with several smart features such as a touch panel for you to adjust your preferred settings directly on the LED screen display; 3 different fan speeds, including a sleep mode with a noise level of just 20dB; a child lock function to prevent your little ones from making unwanted changes to the settings; and the ability to control your settings remotely from your synced mobile device.

For me, I am most impressed with the AI-powered sensor which I can just turn on the Cosmo Pro and leave the AI to decide for me, which settings are necessary to deliver the best air quality.

I have been using the Cosmo Pro to purify the air in my bedroom for several weeks now and I do find the air cleaner and fresher when I have it on at night when I sleep. I am less likely to wake up in the morning with an irritated nose and as mentioned earlier, I found it extremely useful as an added layer of security when there is any close contact with Covid positive individuals.

More details about the Cosmo Pro is available on their official website. For those interested, they also have a water dispenser you can check out.
